01.

Arrival – Negombo

Overnight: Negombo

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to the coastal town of Negombo, a historic trading hub shaped by Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences. Known for its bustling lagoon, canals, and long sandy beaches, Negombo offers an authentic introduction to Sri Lankan coastal life. If time permits, enjoy a gentle orientation walk through the fishing village and the lively fish market, where traditional outrigger canoes, drying fish racks, and daily trade reflect the rhythms of local livelihoods.

Negombo – Anuradhapura ➜ Heritage Walking Tour

Transfer inland to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first ancient capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This sacred city is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and the spiritual heart of Sri Lankan Buddhism. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the ancient city, exploring monumental dagobas, ancient monasteries, royal gardens, and the revered Sri Maha Bodhi, the world’s oldest recorded tree grown from a sapling of the original Bodhi Tree in India.

Mihintale Walk – Habarana – Wildlife Safari

Overnight: Habarana or Sigiriya

Morning excursion to Mihintale, the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. A scenic walk through stone steps and forested pathways leads to ancient cave temples and panoramic viewpoints. Mihintale is where Buddhism was introduced to the island in the 3rd century BC, making it a site of immense historical and spiritual significance. Continue to Habarana and, in the afternoon, enjoy a jeep safari in Minneriya/Kaudulla or Hurulu eco park, renowned for its large gatherings of Asian elephants and diverse birdlife.

Village Walk – Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Begin the day with a guided village walk in Habarana, offering insight into rural Sri Lankan life—chena cultivation, village tanks, and traditional homes. At lunchtime, join a local family for a hands-on rice and curry cooking demonstration, followed by an authentic home-cooked meal served in the traditional Sri Lankan style. In the afternoon, climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rising dramatically from the plains, Sigiriya is famed for its ancient frescoes, mirror wall, landscaped water gardens, and commanding summit views.

Habarana – Knuckles Mountain Range ➜ Trekking Experience

Knuckles – Matale – Kandy ➜ Cultural Walk

Continue to Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka. Pekoe Trail – Stage 01 ➜ Slow Walking Experience

After breakfast, set out on Stage 01 of the Pekoe Trail, Sri Lanka’s newly developed long-distance walking trail that connects tea estates, villages, and historic paths of the hill country. This walk emphasizes sustainable tourism, heritage landscapes, and scenic tea-covered hills. The afternoon is free to relax or independently explore Kandy’s cafés, museums, and handicraft centres.

Three-Temple Walk – Nuwara Eliya

Overnight: Nuwara Eliya

Start the day with the Three-Temple Walk, a gentle cultural walk connecting lesser-known Buddhist temples around Kandy, offering insight into daily religious practices and local life. Drive to Nuwara Eliya, stopping at a tea factory to witness the manufacturing process of Ceylon Tea, globally celebrated for its quality and flavour. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as “Little England,” known for its cool climate and colonial charm.

Pekoe Trail – Stage 08 ➜ Haputale to Ella

Overnight: Ella

Transfer to Haputale and take tuk-tuks to the trailhead. Walk Stage 08 of the Pekoe Trail, considered one of the most scenic sections, passing through tea plantations, viewpoints, and forested ridges with expansive views of the southern plains. Continue to Ella, a laid-back mountain village popular for its walking trails and relaxed atmosphere.

Ella Highlights Walk

Overnight: Ella

Explore Ella on foot, visiting its iconic landmarks including the Nine Arch Bridge, a remarkable colonial-era railway bridge, and the ascent of Little Adam’s Peak, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and tea estates. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy Ella’s cafés or nature spots at leisure.

Ella – Udawalawe – South Coast

Overnight: South Coast

Transfer towards the southern coast, stopping at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, a conservation project dedicated to rehabilitating orphaned elephant calves before releasing them back into the wild. Continue to a selected south coast beach destination.

Galle Fort Walk & Beach Leisure

Morning guided walking tour of Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing a unique blend of European architecture and South Asian traditions.
