Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to Negombo, a charming coastal town located just a short drive away. Known for its golden beaches, vibrant fish markets, and colonial charm, Negombo is the perfect place to begin your Sri Lankan journey. Check in to your hotel and relax after your flight, perhaps with a walk by the beach or a dip in the pool. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring fresh seafood and authentic local flavors.
After breakfast, travel north to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take some time to rest. In the early evening, visit the Sri Maha Bodhi tree, the oldest historically documented tree in the world, and the majestic Ruwanweliseya Stupa, one of the country’s most sacred monuments. As dusk falls, experience the serene atmosphere as devotees offer flowers, light oil lamps, and take part in age-old rituals.
After breakfast, set out to explore the grandeur of Anuradhapura, either by bicycle/Tuk tuk or on foot — the choice is yours. This vast ancient city is dotted with towering stupas, ruined monasteries, stone carvings, and centuries-old reservoirs that reflect Sri Lanka’s golden era of civilization. Pause midday to enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan meal prepared by a local family, served picnic-style — a memorable chance to savor traditional flavors and connect with local culture. In the afternoon, continue to Habarana or Sigiriya, where you will check in and unwind amidst the heart of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle.
Rise early for a pre-breakfast climb of the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you ascend past the famed frescoes, mirror wall, and ancient stairways, marvel at the ingenuity of this 5th-century citadel before reaching the summit, where breathtaking views await. Return to your hotel for breakfast, then enjoy some leisure time. In the late afternoon, embark on a wildlife safari in Minneriya National Park (or a nearby reserve, depending on seasonal elephant movements), where elephants roam freely in their natural habitat.
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely cycling tour (if you are unable to ride, we will arrange Tuk tuks) through Habarana’s peaceful villages and farmland. Cycle past paddy fields, irrigation tanks, and quiet backroads, pausing to interact with locals and experience the rhythms of rural life. Next, join a local family for a hands-on cooking session to learn the art of preparing traditional rice and curry. Sit down afterward to enjoy the meal you helped prepare. In the afternoon, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO site renowned for its vibrant murals and impressive collection of Buddha statues, dating back over centuries.
After breakfast, travel south towards Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital. En route, stop at a fragrant spice garden to learn about the island’s world-famous spices, and make a brief stop to admire the colorful exterior of the Matale Hindu Temple. Upon arrival in Kandy, check in to your hotel before joining your guide on a walking tour of the city. Wander through lively markets, hidden alleyways, and along the scenic shores of Kandy Lake, soaking in the charm of this historic hill-country city.
This morning, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of Buddhism’s most sacred sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the reverence of morning rituals as devotees gather in prayer. Later, explore the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, famous for their orchids, giant tropical trees, and manicured lawns. Pause at the garden café for a coffee or light lunch amidst the greenery. In the afternoon, visit a gem lapidary to discover Sri Lanka’s rich gemstone heritage and learn how raw stones are cut and polished into sparkling treasures. (Optional visit to Kandy cultural show)
After breakfast, begin a scenic drive into Sri Lanka’s stunning hill country. Stop at a tea plantation and factory to witness the making of world-famous Ceylon Tea, from leaf-picking to tasting. Continue to Nuwara Eliya, often called “Little England” for its colonial architecture and cool climate. Stroll through the local bazaar and see the iconic red-brick post office before continuing to Ella, a laid-back hill-country town surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.
This morning, board a train for one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world. Travel through rolling tea fields, misty mountains, and rustic villages, taking in the breathtaking landscapes along the way. (Depend on the season and the weather, we will suggest you an alternative train ride the day before from Nuwara Eliya to Ella station) In the afternoon, enjoy a walk to two of Ella’s most iconic landmarks: the Nine Arch Bridge, an architectural marvel hidden amidst the jungle, and Little Adam’s Peak, an easy hike that rewards you with panoramic views at sunset.
After a leisurely breakfast, depart Ella and travel southwards. En route, stop at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned elephants are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild — a truly heartwarming conservation effort. Continue your drive through ever-changing landscapes until you arrive in the historic coastal city of Galle (or nearby beach towns such as Weligama or Mirissa). Check in to your hotel and relax.
Start the morning with a surfing lesson, perfect for beginners or those looking to improve their skills, under the guidance of professional instructors. The rest of the day is free to relax by the beach until late afternoon, when you will explore the charming Galle Fort with your guide. Stroll along cobbled streets lined with boutique shops, art galleries, and colonial-era architecture, before enjoying some free time for shopping or café hopping. Enroute stop to get couple of snaps of the iconic stilt fisherman.
Spend your final morning at leisure, enjoying the laid-back beach atmosphere. Depending on your flight schedule, you may choose to extend your stay by the sea or transfer to Colombo / Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure. We hope you leave with lasting memories of Sri Lanka’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and warm hospitality — until we welcome you back again.
