After breakfast, travel north to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take some time to rest. Stroll through the local bazaar and see the iconic red-brick post office before continuing to Ella, a laid-back hill-country town surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.

Scenic Train Journey & Ella Highlights

This morning, board a train for one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world. Travel through rolling tea fields, misty mountains, and rustic villages, taking in the breathtaking landscapes along the way. (Depend on the season and the weather, we will suggest you an alternative train ride the day before from Nuwara Eliya to Ella station) In the afternoon, enjoy a walk to two of Ella’s most iconic landmarks: the Nine Arch Bridge, an architectural marvel hidden amidst the jungle, and Little Adam’s Peak, an easy hike that rewards you with panoramic views at sunset.

Ella to Galle ➜ Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home

After a leisurely breakfast, depart Ella and travel southwards. Stroll along cobbled streets lined with boutique shops, art galleries, and colonial-era architecture, before enjoying some free time for shopping or café hopping. Enroute stop to get couple of snaps of the iconic stilt fisherman.

Spend your final morning at leisure, enjoying the laid-back beach atmosphere. Depending on your flight schedule, you may choose to extend your stay by the sea or transfer to Colombo / Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure.
